Mission

Since 2016, Every Girl Counts has helped break the cycle of poverty through girls secondary education. Join us as we impact teen girls, their families, and slum communities in Nairobi, Kenya!

Every Girl Counts partners with local day schools to educate girls at the high school level.

Every Girl Counts empowers girls with weekly bible study and life skills training.

Every Girl Counts sustains girls & their families with food baskets, on-going training, and monthly feminine hygiene products.

 
 

Rene Cook

Co-FOUNDER

Rene and her family founded Every Girl Counts in 2014 as a result of their desire to help disadvantaged girls in other parts of the world. She’s been married to John for 27 years and is the proud mom to three daughters. She is a native Nashvillian and earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business from Belmont University.

 
 
 
 
 

Emmanuel Katana

Kenya Project Manager

Emmanuel joined Every Girl Counts in 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the program in Kenya. He is married to Peris and they have two children. He holds a Diploma in Social Work and is currently pursuing his Degree in Theology at Nairobi Baptist Bible College.

 
 
 

Maureen Kyumwa

spiritual coordinator

Maureen joined Every Girl Counts in 2022 and is responsible for the spiritual part of our program. She has previous experience working as the Chaplain at a girls school. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Theology from Scott Christian University in Kenya.

 
 
 
 

Mercy Mbugua

Administrative coordinator

Mercy joined Every Girl Counts in 2019 and is responsible for coordinating the academic side of our program. She has a diploma in Social Work and is currently pursuing her degree in Counseling at St. Paul University in Nairobi.
